Daryl Bolling :
GUITAR & PIANO (Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical)

The earliest memory I have of music is that of my aunt playing hymns on the old family piano. Being very fascinated I tried to replicate that experience myself on piano, and then again on an old beat-up 12-string guitar my father had purchased at a flea market. When I was 13 I traded my Nintendo 64 for my brother's Fender Stratocaster, and I have been playing seriously ever since.

Initially, I taught myself to play guitar from listening to the vast repertoire of Jimi Hendrix, but I eventually expanded my tastes and began learning other styles, which led to studying classical music formally at Radford University. I studied guitar with Dr. Robert Trent, piano with Nitza Kats, and composition with Dr. Bruce Mahin. In school I played with several ensembles - both in classical and jazz styles.

After college I completed an internship in Hawaii recording music for Steve Sargenti then moved to LA and spent some time working with a cellist playing gigs and private parties before finally finding my way to Austin. My mission as a teacher is to provide enthusiastic instruction to encourage students to develop a deeper love and appreciation for music, and to instill a discipline that will reward them their whole lives.
