Colleen Reilly :
GUITAR (Rock, Blues, Jazz)

Growing up in Nashville, I was originally inspired to play Bass after hearing the wave of female rock artists that were breaking through at that time (artists I idolized were Sheryl Crow, The Breeders, Veruca Salt, and Sonic Youth) but In college I switched to the guitar after hearing Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmy Page play. My serious studies began at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where I was on scholarship for Jazz guitar. I then took time off of college and studied classical guitar exclusively for a 2-year period and then returned back to Jazz once again, studying with NYC Jazz artists Vic Juris, Dave Stryker and Jane Getter.

In 2005, I attended Berklee College of Music as a World Scholarship recipient. At Berklee, my focus was on rock styles, such as Jimi Hendrix and songwriting. As a teacher I have many years of experience teaching guitar at schools in New Jersey and Boston, MA. As a performer, my main gig is as a solo artist fronting my original rock band and playing solo acoustic guitar as a singer/guitarist.

My goal as a teacher is to give each student the musical skills needed to achieve their dreams. The lessons are designed for the INDIVIDUAL student, which aim at keeping the student's personal goals in focus. I believe that with consistent practice and a positive outlook dreams can be attained. As Emerson said, "You wouldn't have the desire if you didn't have the ability to achieve it."
